Arsenal Transfer Update: Gunners Given Boost In Pursuit Of Dusan Vlahovic?

Juventus have reportedly encountered a stumbling block in their efforts to secure a new contract for Arsenal-linked Dusan Vlahovic.

The 24-year-old striker, who was a highly sought-after talent during the January 2022 transfer window, moved from Fiorentina to Juventus. Since then, Vlahovic has made 107 appearances for the club, scoring 43 goals and contributing to their Coppa Italia triumph last season.

Under the management of Thiago Motta, Vlahovic has had a solid start to the 2024-25 season, scoring twice in five Serie A matches.

Still in the early stages of his career, Vlahovic has also made his mark on the international stage, earning 30 caps for Serbia, including three appearances at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.

Arsenal Given Major Boost in Vlahovic Pursuit?

Calciomercato reports that Juventus are facing challenges in negotiating a contract extension with Dusan Vlahovic and his representatives.

Having signed a significant contract in 2022, the 24-year-old is currently tied to Juventus until the end of the 2025-26 season, marking a critical period for both sides.

Juventus aim to avoid a scenario similar to Federico Chiesa’s departure, who left for just £10m to Liverpool this summer with only one year remaining on his deal.

Plans reportedly include extending Vlahovic’s contract until the summer of 2028 or 2029. However, the player is not rushing into an agreement, preferring to evaluate his options and observe the team’s progress under new manager Thiago Motta.

Juventus hope to resume contract discussions by the end of the year, coinciding with the January transfer window.

Arsenal Waiting in the Wings?

As Dusan Vlahovic’s contract situation continues to develop in Italy, reports suggest that Arsenal are eyeing a potential move for the Serbian striker in the summer of 2025.

Currently, the Gunners are operating without a dedicated striker, with Kai Havertz serving as the main focus of Mikel Arteta’s attack.

There are concerns about whether Arsenal can compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title without a prolific forward leading the line.

Gabriel Jesus is a natural option for the role, but Vlahovic could provide a more dominant presence, potentially offering a physicality similar to that of Erling Haaland.
