Transfer News And Rumors: Desire Doue To PSG, Martin Dubravka Set To Leave Newcastle
Rennes attacker Désiré Doué has reportedly yet to decide on his future amid interest from several top European clubs. The 19-year-old has emerged as a standout player for Les Rouge et Noirs, making 76 senior appearances and contributing four goals and five assists in 31 Ligue 1 games last season.
Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in Doué, but Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are reportedly making the strongest efforts to secure his signature.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano indicates that Doué is carefully considering the proposals from PSG and Bayern. While PSG are determined to sign Doué and view him as an ‘ideal’ summer acquisition, Bayern is preparing a revised offer after having an initial bid exceeding €35m (£29.5m) turned down.
Doué, valued at over €60m (£50.5m) by Rennes and with two years remaining on his contract, is currently focused on representing France under Thierry Henry at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
**Dubravka set to leave Newcastle**
Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club this summer. The 35-year-old has been with Newcastle for the past six seasons, recording 46 clean sheets in 163 appearances across all competitions.
Dubravka benefited from Nick Pope’s long-term injury to make 30 appearances for the Magpies during the 2023-24 season, including 23 in the Premier League. However, with Pope’s return to fitness and the arrivals of Odysseas Vlachodimos and John Ruddy, Dubravka is expected to fall down the goalkeeping hierarchy at Newcastle.
With just a year remaining on his contract, Dubravka has reportedly been informed that he is free to seek a new club. According to Football Insider, he is expected to leave Newcastle in the ‘coming weeks,’ though a move to Celtic—who have recently signed two goalkeepers, Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo—does not appear likely.
**Rasmus Kristensen completes Bundesliga loan move**
In other news, Eintracht Frankfurt have finalized the loan signing of Leeds United right-back Rasmus Kristensen. The 27-year-old joined Leeds for around £10m in the summer of 2022 but spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Roma, making 31 appearances in all competitions.
With Roma opting not to re-sign Kristensen, Frankfurt have secured the Denmark international on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for a reported £15m.
Kristensen expressed his excitement about the move, stating, “Today is a great day for me. I’m delighted that I’m now at Eintracht Frankfurt. I recently experienced the stadium in person at the European Championship and can’t wait to play here soon.”
Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Krosche added, “We were interested in Rasmus as far back as three years ago and are delighted that it’s now worked out. We had very good talks and sensed that he absolutely wanted to come to us. Rasmus is a robust, tough-tackling player, who’s an out-and-out right-back but can also play at centre-back.”
Kristensen has been assigned the No.13 shirt and may be available for Frankfurt’s pre-season friendly against Juarez on July 26.
