Liverpool 20-year-old Poised For lucrative New Contract
One of Liverpool’s standout young talents from the 2023-24 season is reportedly set to secure a lucrative new contract, marking one of Arne Slot’s initial moves as manager.
Twenty-year-old right-back Conor Bradley had a challenging start to his Reds career due to injuries but capitalized on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s fitness issues to make a significant impact last season.
In Jurgen Klopp’s final campaign, Bradley made 23 appearances, scoring one goal and providing six assists across all competitions. He started 10 Premier League matches and played in the EFL Cup final victory over Chelsea.
The Northern Ireland international was relegated to the bench upon Alexander-Arnold’s return but quickly became a fan favorite at Anfield due to his energetic performances.
In December, Bradley’s efforts were rewarded with a new and improved contract, extending his stay at Merseyside until the summer of 2027, marking eight years since his arrival from Dungannon in 2019.
Bradley ‘in line for a significant renewal this summer’
Despite his recent contract, TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool aim to secure another renewal for 20-year-old Conor Bradley, whose value has increased since signing his last deal in late 2023.
Bradley remains one of the lowest-paid players in the first team, and Liverpool want to address this by offering a substantial salary increase. Incoming head coach Arne Slot has prioritized Bradley’s renewal, and there is optimism for a swift agreement.
Though initially expected to be Alexander-Arnold’s backup next season, Bradley may compete for the right-back position if Alexander-Arnold moves into a midfield role.
Bradley has contributed one goal and seven assists in 28 matches for Liverpool, having been loaned to Bolton Wanderers for the 2022-23 season before his first-team breakthrough.
What other Liverpool contracts should Slot prioritize?
Bradley’s new and improved Liverpool deal is expected to go through smoothly, but Slot still has several other contract issues to address once he officially begins at Anfield on July 1.
There has been no progress on new deals for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, both of whom are out of contract in 2025. They are expected to stay on for next season to help with Slot’s transitional period.
However, without contract extensions, Liverpool risk losing them for nothing at the end of Slot’s debut campaign. This scenario is undesirable for the club’s owners, who invested over £100m in their signatures.
Salah and Van Dijk are among three key Liverpool players who could leave for free in 2025, including Alexander-Arnold, who is reportedly being monitored by Real Madrid.
Securing a new deal for the academy graduate Alexander-Arnold should be the easiest of the three, but Slot still faces significant contract challenges with these crucial players.
