Is Manchester United Given A Boost In Their Chase For Serie A Winning Defender?
Manchester United’s pursuit of Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries has reportedly received a significant boost, as the Serie A club has set a ‘reasonable asking price’ for their prized defender.
Dumfries is nearing the end of his third season with Inter, having joined from PSV Eindhoven for a fee of approximately £11 million plus add-ons in 2021.
Throughout his tenure with the Nerazzurri, the highly-regarded Dutch player has played a crucial role in the club’s success, contributing to their consecutive Coppa Italia triumphs.
In the current season, Dumfries has featured in 29 league matches for Inter, playing a key role in their Scudetto-winning campaign and directly contributing to eight goals.
Manchester United are considering a summer transfer move for Denzel Dumfries. However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Dumfries seems to be on the verge of leaving the San Siro, with the Premier League being the most appealing destination for the Dutch international.
The report states that Inter Milan has set an asking price of £26 million for the 28-year-old, and with little progress in contract renewal talks between Dumfries and Inter, a move this summer seems increasingly likely.
Manchester United’s interest in Dumfries dates back to January 2023, and they are reportedly contemplating making a new offer for the player, who has less than 12 months left on his current contract.
Meanwhile, Red Bull Salzburg full-back Amar Dedic, valued at around £17 million, has been identified as a potential replacement for Dumfries in Simone Inzaghi’s squad.
