Newcastle United is reportedly in prime position to secure the signing of Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo this summer. Since his move from Manchester City in 2020, the center-back has accumulated 132 competitive appearances for Fulham.

However, Adarabioyo is anticipated to conclude his tenure at Craven Cottage after four years, as his contract is due to expire on June 30. Fulham’s attempts to extend his contract have been unsuccessful, prompting manager Silva to acknowledge that Adarabioyo will likely depart at the end of the season.

“There’s been significant speculation surrounding Tosin,” Silva remarked to TNT Sports before Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Manchester City. “To be honest, renewing with him is proving to be quite challenging. It’s probable that he’ll leave the club at the end of the season. It’s not certain, but it’s likely to happen.”

A recent report suggested that Tottenham had initiated contact with Adarabioyo’s representatives regarding a potential free transfer.

Newcastle appears to be at the forefront of securing Adarabioyo’s services for the upcoming 2024-25 season, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The report suggests that Adarabioyo has been impressed by Newcastle’s ambitious plans following constructive discussions over the past week. Additionally, the 26-year-old is eager to collaborate with Eddie Howe, having witnessed Howe’s ability to develop players during his tenure as Newcastle’s manager.

While Adarabioyo has also garnered interest from top clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool, it seems he is leaning towards a move to St James’ Park.

Newcastle evidently aims to bolster their defensive lineup, especially with Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles sidelined due to long-term injuries.

Newcastle, while leading the pursuit for Adarabioyo, remain steadfast in their efforts to secure another center-back, targeting Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.

Similar to Adarabioyo, the 25-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, making him available on a free transfer.

Newcastle has reportedly been engaging in discussions with Kelly for approximately three months, aiming to fend off interest from Tottenham and West Ham United.

Kelly’s versatility, capable of playing both as a left-back and a central defender, would make him a valuable addition to the Magpies.

Since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2019, the former England Under-21 international has appeared in 140 matches.
