Raheem Sterling Has Ascended Into The Top 20 Of The All-Time Premier League Goalscorers List.
Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling has entered the top 20 of the all-time Premier League goalscorers list. The England international equalized for Mauricio Pochettino’s team with just 10 minutes of normal time remaining in their match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday. He cut inside and executed his trademark finish into the far corner.
Sterling’s goal marked the beginning of a rapid double as Chelsea overturned a 2-1 deficit to secure a 3-2 victory, leaving Forest still needing a point from their final game of the season to guarantee their survival.
With this goal, Sterling now boasts a total of 122 goals in the English top flight, accumulated during his stints with Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea. This achievement places him above another player on Chelsea’s roster, Romelu Lukaku, although the Belgian is currently on loan at Roma.
Out of Sterling’s 122 Premier League goals, 13 have been scored in the blue of Chelsea, while he has netted 18 for Liverpool and 91 for Manchester City, spanning a total of 377 appearances in the Premier League.
Previously level with Lukaku on 121 goals but ranked 21st due to his lower goals-per-game ratio, Sterling is now aiming to surpass some notable strikers from the past.
In their remaining two matches of the season, against Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth, the West Londoners offer Sterling the opportunity to equal Dwight Yorke’s 19th position with just one more goal.
Nicolas Anelka currently sits just three goals ahead of Sterling, while Robbie Keane (126) and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (127) are also within range, although overtaking them may have to wait until next season.
Jamie Vardy occupies the 15th spot on the list with 136 goals, and with Leicester City’s promotion, there’s a possibility he might return to the Premier League next season, although rumors suggest he could move elsewhere.
Sterling’s place in the top 20 might be precarious, as Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min is close behind with 120 goals to his credit.
