Liverpool Is One Of The Clubs Showing Interest In A Left Back From Ligue 1
Reportedly, Liverpool is one of three Premier League clubs expressing interest in acquiring the services of Bradley Locko, the left-back from Brest. Last summer, the 22-year-old made a switch to Brest from Reims for a reported fee of €500,000 (£429,965) following a loan spell at the Stade Francis-Le Ble during the second half of the previous season.
Locko has established himself as a regular starter for Brest, who have unexpectedly contended for Champions League qualification this season. Featuring in all 32 of Brest’s league matches, the full-back has contributed to the team’s accumulation of 57 points, positioning them in third place with two matches remaining.
With his achievements at the club level, Locko is poised to earn a call-up to Thierry Henry’s France squad for the forthcoming home Olympics this summer.
Football Insider reports that Liverpool is contemplating a summer bid for Locko, having been impressed by his performances this season.
With the anticipated start of a new era under Arne Slot, the Reds seem to have identified Locko as a player with promising potential who could develop into a top-quality full-back at Anfield.
Although Liverpool currently boasts Andrew Robertson as their primary left-back and Kostas Tsimikas as a capable backup, they appear eager to enhance their squad depth, particularly given Robertson’s injury struggles this season.
While the exact valuation of the player remains undisclosed, Brest could demand a substantial fee for Locko, given that he is under contract until the summer of 2028.
Liverpool is poised to face competition from fellow Premier League clubs Aston Villa and West Ham United in their pursuit of Locko.
Aston Villa currently has Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno as left-back options, but they are seeking reinforcements as they aspire to construct a squad capable of competing in the Champions League, with Unai Emery’s team on the verge of qualifying for UEFA’s premier club competition.
On the other hand, West Ham might require a new left-sided defender, particularly with Aaron Cresswell’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
