Carlo Ancelotti Has Come To The Defense Of The Real Madrid Star, Stating, He Will Return To Peak Form
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed confidence that Jude Bellingham will return to his peak performance level in the upcoming Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich next week. Despite recent challenges, Ancelotti believes in Bellingham’s abilities and anticipates his resurgence.
The 20-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a remarkable debut season at Real Madrid, contributing 21 goals and 10 assists across 37 appearances in various competitions. However, his impact came under scrutiny during both legs of the Champions League quarter-finals against Manchester City, as well as in Tuesday’s semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich, where he struggled to make a significant impression.
Bellingham was substituted in the 75th minute of the match at Allianz Arena, with Real Madrid trailing 2-1 at the time. Nevertheless, the team managed to rally and secure a 2-2 draw against the Bundesliga powerhouse.
Recent setbacks, including an ankle injury, a suspension in La Liga, and an illness that prevented him from participating in the match against Real Sociedad last Friday, have interrupted Bellingham’s campaign. Despite these challenges, Ancelotti remains optimistic about his star midfielder’s ability to bounce back.
Carlo Ancelotti expressed confidence in Jude Bellingham’s ability to bounce back to top form despite recent setbacks. Ancelotti acknowledged that Bellingham’s recent injury had a significant impact on his performance but assured reporters that the midfielder would reach full fitness for the upcoming Champions League semi-final second leg.
“He’s had to contend with the effects of his injury, which undoubtedly hindered him. He hasn’t been operating at his peak, but I have no doubt he’ll soon return to top form. By Wednesday, he’ll be firing on all cylinders,” Ancelotti reassured.
Throughout the 2023-24 season, Bellingham has been instrumental for Real Madrid, tallying 17 goals and four assists in La Liga and contributing four goals and four assists in the Champions League across nine appearances.
Ancelotti also showered praise on Toni Kroos after the recent match, particularly highlighting Kroos’s exceptional pass that set up Vinicius Junior’s goal.
“It’s no surprise to see Toni excel with his pinpoint passes. He’s among the finest midfielders renowned for such precision,” Ancelotti commended.
Carlo Ancelotti praised Toni Kroos and Vinicius Junior for their performances, emphasizing the importance of ball control and Vinicius’s adeptness in front of goal.
“We aimed to improve ball possession, as it proved challenging for our opponents to regain control. Kroos particularly stands out in this regard,” Ancelotti remarked.
Regarding Vinicius’s impact, who scored twice in the 2-2 draw, bringing his total to 21 goals across all competitions this season, Ancelotti highlighted his versatility and goal-scoring prowess.
“Vinicius demonstrates versatility, adapting well to various positions such as the striker role. His ability to navigate through defenses without the ball and his composure in front of goal are commendable. Of course, credit also goes to midfielders like Kroos, whose precise passes set up opportunities,” the Italian explained.
Real Madrid’s focus now shifts to La Liga as they prepare to host Cadiz at the Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon, holding an 11-point lead over second-placed Barcelona in the league standings.
