Manchester United Handed Major Michael Olise Boost As Winger’s Stance Revealed

Manchester United’s pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has received a significant boost, as the player himself is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford. Despite facing injuries during the 2023-24 season at Selhurst Park, the French Under-21 international has maintained his impact, contributing to 11 goals in 16 Premier League appearances when fit.

Olise has scored seven goals and provided four assists this season, adding to his overall tally of 13 goals and 23 assists in 87 matches since joining Palace from Reading in 2021. Although there were indications of a potential return to Chelsea last summer, Olise opted to extend his stay at Palace by signing a new long-term contract.

While Olise’s current deal with Palace runs until the end of the 2026-27 season, there are conflicting reports regarding whether it includes a release clause, especially after Chelsea activated his previous £35 million option.

Despite uncertainties surrounding potential exit clauses and his injury issues this season, Michael Olise remains a target for several top European clubs, including Manchester United.

It’s understood that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a new stakeholder at Manchester United, is particularly interested in securing Olise’s services for the 2024-25 season. However, Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has expressed hope that both Olise and fellow standout Eberechi Eze will stay with the club next season.

According to a report from 90Min, Olise would be open to a move to Manchester United if they demonstrated serious interest in signing him this summer. Chelsea, on the other hand, are not planning to revive their pursuit of Olise.

With competition for places from the likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling, and Mykhaylo Mudryk, Chelsea believe they have sufficient depth in their wide positions and are unlikely to pursue Olise again, especially after facing threats of legal action from Palace.

While Palace reportedly included a release clause ranging from £50m to £60m in Olise’s contract renewal last summer, the situation is legally complex, and the club has not given up hope of retaining the 22-year-old talent.

Could there be departures to accommodate Olise’s potential arrival?

Olise’s potential arrival at Manchester United would impact Erik ten Hag’s current attacking options, some of whom have struggled to impress during the current season.

Anthony Martial has endured a disappointing season, largely due to a groin injury sidelining him since December. Even when fit, he failed to impress Ten Hag and is expected to depart when his contract expires in June.

Jadon Sancho, on loan from Borussia Dortmund, appears to have no future under Ten Hag’s leadership. However, if there’s a change in management, Sancho might reconsider his prospects at Old Trafford.

Neither Antony nor Marcus Rashford have performed up to expectations this season. Antony has been linked with a potential exit, while Rashford’s future seems more secure.

Despite Antony’s recent bright performance and goal against Burnley, the team’s subsequent setback dashed their hopes of a top-four Premier League finish.
