Leicester City reclaimed their position at the top of the Championship table with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion.
The Foxes took the lead in the first half through Wilfred Ndidi’s goal, followed by Jamie Vardy’s 15th league goal of the season, securing a crucial win for Enzo Maresca’s team.
Despite West Brom pulling one back with a goal from Jed Wallace, they were unable to find an equalizer despite creating several opportunities. Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury made three crucial goal-line clearances to help secure the win.
With this victory, Leicester now sit two points clear of second-placed Ipswich Town and four points ahead of third-placed Leeds United, with just three matches remaining.
Meanwhile, West Brom remains in fifth place with two matches left, hoping for favorable results to secure their spot in the top six.
Leicester’s lead came against the run of play, as they were under pressure early on. However, Ndidi capitalized on a rebound in the 22nd minute after Vardy’s header was saved by West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer.

While West Brom remained the more threatening side, Leicester had a chance to extend their lead before halftime. Okay Yokuslu fouled Jamie Vardy inside the penalty area, but the striker’s spot kick hit the crossbar.
In a remarkable sequence of play early in the second half, West Brom had several opportunities to equalize. However, Hamza Choudhury made two crucial goal-line clearances within the first six minutes after the break.
Choudhury first cleared a shot from Grady Diangana off the line, then headed the rebound over the bar after it nearly deflected into the net off Diangana’s hand. From the resulting corner, Cedric Kipre’s header hit the crossbar, with Diangana unable to convert the rebound from close range.
Shortly after, Vardy missed a chance from close range at the other end, before Diangana missed the target with a first-time strike from eight yards out.

Midway through the second half, West Brom’s defense was breached once again. Abdul Fatawu delivered a pinpoint cross into the penalty area, where Jamie Vardy was waiting. The former England international made no mistake with a well-placed header from six yards out.
As the game progressed, there were indications that it might slow down, with Leicester seeming content to protect their lead. However, West Brom managed to pull one back with 14 minutes remaining. Cedric Kipre played an exquisite through ball to Jed Wallace, who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
Although West Brom continued to threaten, they were unable to create any clear-cut opportunities in the final stages. Nevertheless, Leicester deserves credit for halting a two-game losing streak and securing a hard-fought victory, arguably their most crucial of the season so far.
