Chelsea Is Expected To Decline Any Offers For The Defender This Summer
Reports indicate that Chelsea defender Reece James is unlikely to leave during the upcoming summer transfer window. Despite being appointed captain upon Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, the English international has faced setbacks throughout the season.
With just six starts and three substitute appearances across all competitions, James has struggled due to hamstring injuries, leading him to undergo surgery in December, leaving his return timeline uncertain. While doubts have emerged regarding his future at Chelsea, no concrete decisions have been made yet.
Real Madrid has remained on the periphery of the situation. Even when James was excelling, Real Madrid was reportedly interested in acquiring his services, along with other players in a similar category.
However, Los Blancos have refrained from bolstering their right-back options for some time, with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez sharing duties in that position. Despite both Spaniards performing admirably and maintaining a high level of play, they are now 32 years old, necessitating the need for younger alternatives in the near future.
Although reports have suggested that Chelsea might entertain offers in the region of £60 million, it is improbable that Real Madrid will commit to such substantial spending given their other priorities.

The report indicates that it would be “highly unexpected” if James were to depart, with previous suggestions indicating that the club’s leadership is apprehensive about potential repercussions.
Chelsea finds themselves in a situation where they must improve their standing with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations, and offloading homegrown players is seen as a viable strategy to achieve that goal.
Despite this, no concrete offers have materialized for players like Trevoh Chalobah, Conor Gallagher, and Armando Broja, leaving players like James potentially vulnerable to a transfer. With over four years remaining on his contract, James appears poised to continue competing with Malo Gusto for a starting spot in the lineup.
