A Premier League Club Is Showing Interest In Real Madrid Midfielder Dani Ceballos
Newcastle United is reportedly considering a move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos. Since joining from Real Betis in 2017, Ceballos has been with Los Blancos, where he has garnered numerous accolades.
During his tenure at the Bernabeu, the 27-year-old has secured a La Liga title, a Copa del Rey, and two Champions League trophies. Despite his achievements, Ceballos has often played a peripheral role, primarily featuring as a squad player under managers like Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti.
Out of his 141 appearances for Real Madrid, only 39 have been as a starter in La Liga, with just one start granted to him in the 2023-24 season.
In recent times, Ceballos has only made three brief substitute appearances since the start of February, indicating that Ancelotti does not heavily rely on him.
Having committed to a long-term contract extension last summer, Ceballos is now under contract with Real Madrid until 2027. The club’s decision-makers may view him as a cost-effective option to bolster their squad depth.
However, there is also the possibility of Ceballos fetching a transfer fee, especially with Real Madrid expected to invest heavily in securing Kylian Mbappe’s services and seeking reinforcements in the left-back position.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle United has emerged as a potential destination for Ceballos in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Throughout the season, Newcastle United has faced persistent issues in midfield, exacerbated by Sandro Tonali’s suspension due to breaching gambling regulations and Joelinton’s absence due to injury in the latter half of the campaign.
Although these circumstances may change, Tonali has recently faced charges from the Football Association for rule violations since joining Newcastle, while Joelinton is likely to be transferred unless he extends his contract beyond 2025.
As a result, reports suggest that British media have hinted at Newcastle’s potential interest in orchestrating a deal for Ceballos before the next season commences.
Ceballos has already had a two-year stint in the Premier League with Arsenal from 2019 to 2021, amassing 49 appearances in the competition during that period.
While the potential transfer fee is unspecified, Newcastle aims to secure Ceballos for a price lower than the €18m Real Madrid paid Betis seven years ago, as they endeavor to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.
