Manchester United Have Compiled A List Of Four Potential Replacements For Erik Ten Hag.

Manchester United reportedly have a list of four potential replacements for Erik ten Hag as they consider a change in management at Old Trafford. The 54-year-old recently marked his 100th match in charge of the Red Devils after joining from Ajax before the start of the 2022-23 season.

Ten Hag had a successful first season, guiding the club back to the Champions League and securing victory in the EFL Cup final against Newcastle United at Wembley. However, this season has been more challenging, with United currently sitting in sixth place, nine points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United have identified four managers who could potentially succeed Ten Hag ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The report suggests that initially, Manchester United had identified Gareth Southgate as their top choice to take over as manager at Old Trafford next season.

However, following a minority takeover of the club by INEOS billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who now oversees football operations at Manchester United, the decision regarding Ten Hag’s future will rest with him.

Given that Southgate’s tenure as Three Lions boss is set to end at the close of the calendar year, Manchester United are reportedly compelled to explore alternative options.

One of United’s backup choices is former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who is set to depart from his position as Bayern Munich boss at the conclusion of the ongoing season.

Bayern Munich currently trail surprise leaders Bayer Leverkusen by 10 points in the Bundesliga standings, indicating that Tuchel’s side is likely to relinquish the German crown for the first time since 2012.

Another coach garnering interest from Manchester United is Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim, who is currently leading Sporting Lisbon in a tight Primeira Liga title race against their fierce rivals Benfica.

Roberto De Zerbi, who guided Brighton & Hove Albion to their first-ever continental appearance this season, is also being considered for the managerial position at Old Trafford.

De Zerbi, who is also linked to the soon-to-be-vacant role at Liverpool, has attracted attention for continuing Graham Potter’s work on the South Coast since late 2022.

Additionally, Zinedine Zidane is another name in contention for the Manchester United job. The French manager boasts significant experience in managing some of football’s biggest stars, having led Real Madrid to three Champions League titles.
