Oscar Bobb Has Agreed To A Contract Extension With Manchester City, Committing To The Club Until 2029

Manchester City has announced the contract extension of forward Oscar Bobb until the summer of 2029. The 20-year-old earned a spot in Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad this season following the departures of Riyad Mahrez and Cole Palmer last summer.

Having joined Manchester City from Valerenga in 2019, Bobb made a notable impact in the club’s academy teams. He amassed 31 goals and 33 assists in 114 appearances across various youth competitions, from Under-18 to Under-21 level.

Under Guardiola’s guidance, the Norwegian international has made significant strides in his development this season. He has made 16 appearances for the first team in all competitions, including debuts in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Bobb scored his maiden senior goal for Manchester City in the Champions League, finding the net in the second half of their 3-2 group-stage victory against Red Star Belgrade in December.

Just one month later, Bobb scored his inaugural Premier League goal, a stoppage-time winner that propelled Manchester City to a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

The Norwegian’s exceptional strike earned him January’s Premier League Goal of the Month award, making him the first Manchester City player since Rodri in November 2021 to receive this individual honor.

Bobb, a member of the Manchester City squad that secured the FIFA Club World Cup earlier in the season, was originally set to see his contract expire in June 2026. However, he has chosen to extend his commitment to the club by signing a new three-year deal.

“I am immensely proud and honored to have signed my new contract with City,” expressed Bobb to the club’s official website.

“Being here is an incredible experience and the optimal environment for a young player – I have already gleaned invaluable knowledge from Pep, his coaching staff, and my teammates.

“Knowing that I will remain with the club until 2029 means the world to me. Now, my sole focus is on continuing to develop and to give my all every day to contribute to the club’s ongoing success.”

Txiki Begiristain, Manchester City’s director of football, commented, “Oscar possesses remarkable natural talent and technique, and he has already proven himself to be a vital member of the squad.

“He is an exciting young talent who is consistently eager to learn and diligently absorbs all the advice and guidance provided by Pep and the coaching staff.

“We have been thrilled to witness his development from our academy to the first team, observing his remarkable ability, positive attitude, and unwavering dedication flourish.

“Having another young player emerge from our academy to establish himself in the first team fills us with immense pride at the football club.

“Oscar’s growth is continuous, and we firmly believe he can contribute to bringing further success to the club in the years ahead.”

Bobb is in contention to participate in Manchester City’s FA Cup fifth-round encounter away against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night.
