Manchester United Is Reportedly Prepared To Actively Pursue The Sales Of Donny Van De Beek And Facundo Pellistri
Reportedly, Manchester United are poised to seek the sales of Donny van de Beek and Facundo Pellistri during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Upon their acquisitions in 2020, there was an anticipation that both players would eventually secure regular places in the first team at Old Trafford, either immediately or in the future.
However, neither player has managed to establish themselves consistently, particularly Van de Beek, who arrived from Ajax for approximately £39m.
Van de Beek’s playing time has been limited due to a combination of poor form and injuries, resulting in just 62 appearances across all competitions, with only two goals and two assists during his tenure.
Meanwhile, Pellistri has yet to receive an extended opportunity in the senior squad, making only 24 appearances and spending periods on loan instead.
Reportedly, United is prepared to offload both players, although it has been emphasized that their respective valuations must be met.
The exact amount United aims to recover for Van de Beek remains unclear. However, his current loan club, Eintracht Frankfurt, reportedly holds an option to secure his permanent services for a fee that could potentially reach just under £12m.
While Van de Beek has been given opportunities by the German side, making four starts and one substitute appearance in the Bundesliga, he has yet to play for longer than 67 minutes in a single match. Additionally, he was not included in Dino Toppmoller’s Europa Conference League squad for the knockout stages, indicating that Van de Beek still has much to prove to secure a permanent move.
Regarding Pellistri, he is experiencing a more fruitful loan stint with Granada, having made three starts and contributing a goal along with an assist in a 3-3 draw against Barcelona.
If he continues to impress, the Uruguayan international is expected to attract significant interest at the end of the season, especially with one year remaining on his contract.
United is keen to offload several fringe players as part of their rebuilding efforts under minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who oversees footballing operations.
There have been indications that United may consider parting ways with up to 11 players in the summer, largely due to several established players having less than 18 months left on their contracts.
