Liverpool and Manchester United are poised to compete for the signature of Marc Guehi

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly set to vie for the services of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the upcoming summer transfer window. The centre-back joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021 and has since made 108 appearances for the Eagles, establishing himself as a key figure at Selhurst Park.

Although Guehi has featured in 26 games during the current 2023-24 campaign, he has been sidelined for his team’s recent fixtures against Chelsea and Everton due to injury. With just under two years remaining on his contract with Palace, speculation has intensified regarding his future, fueled by his impressive performances on the field.

According to The Telegraph, new Palace head coach Oliver Glasner faces the challenge of retaining his top talents this summer, with Guehi being one of the players who could potentially seek a move elsewhere.

The report suggests that Liverpool is interested in Guehi, but they may face competition from Manchester United. Dan Ashworth, who is potentially joining Manchester United as their new sporting director, had previously shown interest in signing Guehi for Newcastle United. Therefore, if Ashworth moves to Old Trafford, Manchester United could become serious contenders for Guehi, especially as they are expected to recruit at least one centre-back this summer. Chelsea reportedly has a sell-on clause and a matching option, giving them a say in Guehi’s potential transfer back to Stamford Bridge.

It’s believed that Guehi is unwilling to commit to a new contract with Palace, suggesting that the club will likely look to sell him this summer while his value is at its peak.

Additionally, Manchester United have shown strong interest in Guehi’s teammate Michael Olise, indicating a potential double acquisition from Palace in the upcoming transfer window.

Guehi has earned nine caps for England, with his most recent appearance occurring in November 2023 against North Macedonia, where he played the entire 90 minutes of a 1-1 draw.

Having previously spent time on loan at Swansea City from Chelsea, the defender has accumulated 95 Premier League appearances during his tenure at Palace.
