Newcastle United Has Officially Confirmed A Contract Extension For Emil Krafth
Newcastle United has revealed that defender Emil Krafth has agreed to a one-year contract extension, ensuring his stay at St James’ Park until the summer of 2025.
The Sweden international has been with the Magpies for the past four and a half years since his move from Amiens, amassing a total of 73 appearances across all competitions.
Krafth marked his long-awaited return to Eddie Howe’s squad in November, featuring in a 3-0 EFL Cup victory over Manchester United, after being sidelined for over a year due to a troublesome ACL injury. Since then, the 29-year-old has made an additional eight appearances in various competitions this season, including six outings in the Premier League.
Initially set to become a free agent at the end of the current season, Krafth has opted to extend his stay at St James’ Park by signing a new 12-month contract extension.

“On a personal level, my time at the club has been a journey marked by highs and lows since I first joined. However, I genuinely feel a sense of belonging here, and I am eager to repay the trust and support that have been extended to me, particularly during my recovery from injury.

Krafth’s contract extension follows closely after academy graduate Lewis Miley committed his future to the Magpies with a new long-term deal.
Presently, Krafth occupies a peripheral role in Howe’s first-team squad, with Kieran Trippier, Valentino Livramento, and Dan Burn preferred ahead of him in the full-back positions. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful of garnering more playing time during the latter part of the campaign. With 14 Premier League fixtures remaining for the Magpies and an upcoming FA Cup fifth-round clash against Blackburn Rovers later this month, Krafth is eager to contribute whenever called upon.
